Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Former Emperor Sutoku from Sanuki Sends His Retainers to Rescue Tametomo (Sanuki no in kenzoku o shite Tametomo o sukuu zu) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 27,720.00 (€ 33,064.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 26,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 27.720,00 (€ 33.064,15) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 26.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden.
