Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Segawa Roko Kuzunoha-Gitsune (The Actor Segawa Kikunojo III As Fox Wife Kuzunoha) by Utagawa Toyokuni was sold in the Important Japanese Art auction at Christies in September 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,239.18) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Toyokuni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 38,060.38).

Die Arbeit Segawa Roko Kuzunoha-Gitsune (The Actor Segawa Kikunojo III As Fox Wife Kuzunoha) von Utagawa Toyokuni wurde im September 2021 in der Auktion Important Japanese Art bei Christies versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.239,18) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyokuni erzielen.
