This artwork by Vaughn Spann achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. In the Choice Works auction, the work Big Pink (Black Rainbow) sold for USD 163,800.00 (€ 140,637.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Vaughn Spann; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Big Black Rainbow (Deep Dive) sold at auction in December 2020 with the realized price of USD 239,400.00 (€ 195,748.16).
