Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Le poète (The Poet) by Vu Cao Dam was worth HKD 2,772,000.00 (€ 329,095.89) to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century Art Day Sale at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 800,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vu Cao Dam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Femmes au bain (Women Bathing), which sold at auction in December 2020 for HKD 8,050,000.00 (€ 849,100.57).

Die Arbeit Le poète (The Poet) von Vu Cao Dam war einem Käufer im Mai letzten Jahres HKD 2.772.000,00 (€ 329.095,89) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 20th Century Art Day Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 800.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Vu Cao Dam mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Femmes au bain (Women Bathing) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für HKD 8.050.000,00 (€ 849.100,57) versteigert wurde.
