Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lilleshall Abbey with lake by William Cheesman was auctioned at Bonhams in Edinburgh in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 318.75 (€ 366.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Cheesman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A French bulldog, Millicent (The Duchess of Sutherland's first pet dog in the 1890s) in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,737.50 (€ 6,599.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lilleshall Abbey with lake von William Cheesman im April 2021 bei Bonhams in Edinburgh versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 318,75 (€ 366,66) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Cheesman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A French bulldog, Millicent (The Duchess of Sutherland's first pet dog in the 1890s) im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.737,50 (€ 6.599,79).
