Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2004 Christies in London held the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Over The Fence; And Another Similar by W. V. Longe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 334.60 (€ 481.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by W. V. Longe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Last Fence, The Grand National, 1902, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 900.00 (€ 1,322.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion At Home - British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Over The Fence; And Another Similar von W. V. Longe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 334,60 (€ 481,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von W. V. Longe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Last Fence, The Grand National, 1902 beobachtet, die im November 2005 für GBP 900,00 (€ 1.322,21) versteigert wurde.
