In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Moored fishing vessels before a village at sunset by Walter Stuart Lloyd. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,457.47), 18% above the upper estimate. Other works by Walter Stuart Lloyd have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,611.82) in July 2004 for the work Sorting the catch at dusk, Babbacombe Bay, South Devon.
