In May 2013 Christies in London held the auction Vintage Posters, which included the work Cunard, Boston To Europe by Walter Thomas. The result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,338.31) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Thomas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cunard, Boston To Europe, which sold at auction in April 2012 for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,132.36).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Vintage Posters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cunard, Boston To Europe von Walter Thomas zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.338,31) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Thomas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cunard, Boston To Europe beobachtet, die im April 2012 für GBP 5.000,00 (€ 6.132,36) versteigert wurde.
