Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Cut Melon by Wayne Thiebaud was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2016. The price achieved of USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,671.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wayne Thiebaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Cut Melon von Wayne Thiebaud kam im September 2016 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.671,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
