This artwork by Willem Wissing achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2007. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, in a red dress and blue robe, a landscape beyond sold for USD 27,400.00 (€ 18,938.35) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Willem Wissing have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Francis Thynne, Lady Worsley, full-length, in a red dress and a blue ermine-lined mantle, a domed mansion in a garden beyond in September 2011 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 92,066.47).
