This artwork by William Bennett achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2010. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work The trout stream sold for GBP 875.00 (€ 1,052.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Admittedly, works by William Bennett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Robert Bullough, bust-length, wearing a red velvet jacket and white cravat; and Portrait of his wife, Sarah, bust-length, wearing a blue dress with lace borders and two brooches, in a feigned oval in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,482.35).
