Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2020 Christies in London held the auction The Delighted Eye: Works from the Collection of Allen and Beryl Freer, which included the work Ruins, Florence by William Gear. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,271.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Gear have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Summer afternoon in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 28,199.75).
