Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Refuge in the Library, 1985 (within original artist's frame) by William Kentridge was sold in the A Focus on William Kentridge auction at Bonhams in London in September this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 44,800.00 (€ 44,800.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Kentridge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Procession in March 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,538,500.00 (€ 1,200,452.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Refuge in the Library, 1985 (within original artist's frame) von William Kentridge wurde im September diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Focus on William Kentridge bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 44.800,00 (€ 44.800,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Kentridge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Procession im März 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.538.500,00 (€ 1.200.452,56).
