In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Peter Langan: A Life with Art, which included the work The artist at his easel by William Strang. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,233.28) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Strang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Girl reading. The Storyteller in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 37,997.77).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Peter Langan: A Life with Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The artist at his easel von William Strang zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.233,28) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Strang erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Girl reading. The Storyteller im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 37.997,77).
