In December 2021 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale, which included the work PUMPKIN by Yayoi Kusama. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 55,450,000.00 (€ 6,280,871.18), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Yayoi Kusama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit PUMPKIN von Yayoi Kusama zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 55.450.000,00 (€ 6.280.871,18) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
