Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Yayoi Kusama achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. In the 21st Century Art Day Sale auction, the work Window sold for HKD 20,850,000.00 (€ 2,498,569.83) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 9,800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yayoi Kusama - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Nets), which sold at auction in May last year for USD 10,496,000.00 (€ 9,781,008.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yayoi Kusama erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Window für HKD 20.850.000,00 (€ 2.498.569,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 9.800.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Nets) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 10.496.000,00 (€ 9.781.008,29) versteigert wurde.
