NOTE: A native of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Zou Yigui styled himself as Yuanbao and was a graduate of the civil service examination in the Qing Dynasty. Zou was a politician and a painter who was skilled in poetry and painting; while he painted landscapes, he was particularly accomplished in gongbi flower paintings.

Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Peony by Zou Yigui. The price achieved of HKD 43,750.00 (€ 5,074.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zou Yigui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers in September 2016 with an auction result of USD 394,000.00 (€ 350,596.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peony von Zou Yigui zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 43.750,00 (€ 5.074,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zou Yigui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flowers im September 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 394.000,00 (€ 350.596,19).
