Auction result well in line with expectations

However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Zwelethu Mthethwa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled from Sugar Cane Series, which sold at auction in May 2010 for USD 27,500.00 (€ 22,233.00).

Die Arbeit Intérieur, Afrique Du Sud, 2001 von Zwelethu Mthethwa kam im Januar 2008 bei Artcurial in Paris zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 8.674,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Zwelethu Mthethwa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled from Sugar Cane Series beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für USD 27.500,00 (€ 22.233,00) versteigert wurde.
