This artwork by Adriana Varejão achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2011. In the Latin American Sale auction, the work Paisagem II sold for USD 542,500.00 (€ 377,365.05) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adriana Varejão - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Parede com Incisões a la Fontana II (Wall with Incisions a la Fontana II), which sold at auction in February 2011 for GBP 1,105,250.00 (€ 1,301,892.03).
