Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Brú Na Bóinne I by Alexander MacKenzie was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,273.89). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander MacKenzie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Painting (Gwithian) Aug 57-, which sold at auction in June 2017 for GBP 40,000.00 (€ 45,552.54).
