Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Death of Achilles by Alexander Rothaug was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in New York in October 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 27,901.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Alexander Rothaug have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2021 the work Danae und der Goldregen was auctioned for EUR 36,250.00.

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 27.901,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
