This artwork by Alexandre Cabanel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2016. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work French mary Magdalene At The Tomb sold for USD 225,000.00 (€ 202,065.56) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alexandre Cabanel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Birth of Venus in October 2002 with an auction result of USD 834,500.00 (€ 844,550.15).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Alexandre Cabanel erzielte im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art wurde die Arbeit French mary Magdalene At The Tomb für USD 225.000,00 (€ 202.065,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexandre Cabanel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Birth of Venus im Oktober 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 834.500,00 (€ 844.550,15).
