Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction Fine Photographs, which included the work V-J Day, Times Square, New York, 1945, printed later by Alfred Eisenstaedt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,656.33), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alfred Eisenstaedt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Children At A Puppet Theatre, Paris' in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 39,425.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Fine Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit V-J Day, Times Square, New York, 1945, printed later von Alfred Eisenstaedt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.656,33) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alfred Eisenstaedt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Children At A Puppet Theatre, Paris' im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 39.425,96).
