Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Paysage Aux Environs De Chatou by André Derain was sold in the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,168,000.00 (€ 1,611,536.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by André Derain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Arbres À Collioure in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 16,281,250.00 (€ 19,799,515.40).

Die Arbeit Paysage Aux Environs De Chatou von André Derain wurde im Mai 2007 in der Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.168.000,00 (€ 1.611.536,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von André Derain erzielen.
