It achieved a price of GBP 499,000.00 (€ 591,180.23), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 66%. Admittedly, works by Andreas Gursky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 99 Cent Ii, Diptych in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,700,000.00 (€ 2,520,188.96).

Die Arbeit Chicago Mercantile Exchange von Andreas Gursky wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 499.000,00 (€ 591.180,23) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 66%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Andreas Gursky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 99 Cent Ii, Diptych im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.700.000,00 (€ 2.520.188,96).
