Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Death Of Ajax by Antonio Zanchi was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 42,979.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio Zanchi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Allegory of Time, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 73,250.00 (€ 93,064.95).

Die Arbeit The Death Of Ajax von Antonio Zanchi wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 42.979,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Antonio Zanchi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Allegory of Time beobachtet, die im Juli 2008 für GBP 73.250,00 (€ 93.064,95) versteigert wurde.
