It achieved a price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,731.36), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Antonio Zanchi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Allegory of Time in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 93,064.95).

Die Arbeit The Death of Socrates von Antonio Zanchi wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.731,36) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Antonio Zanchi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Allegory of Time im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 73.250,00 (€ 93.064,95).
