Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ilulwane as uNtsikana by Athi-Patra Ruga was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 22,700.00 (€ 19,371.91). Other works by Athi-Patra Ruga have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2021 by the work Uzukile The Elder, 2013 at EUR 25,745.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ilulwane as uNtsikana von Athi-Patra Ruga im September 2020 bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 22.700,00 (€ 19.371,91) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Athi-Patra Ruga wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juni 2021 die Arbeit Uzukile The Elder, 2013 mit EUR 25.745,00.
