This artwork by Austin Osman Spare achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2018. In the Modern | British & Irish Art auction, the work Portrait of a woman with red hair, 'Coquette' sold for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,673.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Austin Osman Spare have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nude, Charlotte Newman in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 59,410.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Austin Osman Spare erzielte im März 2018 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern | British & Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a woman with red hair, 'Coquette' für GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.673,95) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Austin Osman Spare auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nude, Charlotte Newman im Dezember 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 59.410,40).
