This artwork by Briton Rivière achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2007. In the Victorian and Traditonalist Pictures auction, the work Hope Deferred sold for GBP 70,100.00 (€ 98,158.14) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Briton Rivière; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Requiescat sold at auction in February 2003 with the realized price of GBP 111,150.00 (€ 162,275.49).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Briton Rivière erzielte im November 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Victorian and Traditonalist Pictures wurde die Arbeit Hope Deferred für GBP 70.100,00 (€ 98.158,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Briton Rivière; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Requiescat im Februar 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 111.150,00 (€ 162.275,49).
