The work Compulsory Education by Briton Rivière was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2010. It achieved a price of GBP 115,250.00 (€ 133,689.65), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 65%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Briton Rivière; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Requiescat sold at auction in February 2003 with the realized price of GBP 111,150.00 (€ 162,275.49).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 115.250,00 (€ 133.689,65) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 65%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Briton Rivière; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Requiescat im Februar 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 111.150,00 (€ 162.275,49).
