In March 2008 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work New Breed Hybrid by Chintan Upadhyay. The »bidding war« ended at USD 75,400.00 (€ 47,706.42), 51% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chintan Upadhyay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Together For Life Whether We Like It Or Not, which sold at auction in October 2008 for HKD 1,100,000.00 (€ 111,890.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im März 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit New Breed Hybrid von Chintan Upadhyay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 75.400,00 (€ 47.706,42) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Chintan Upadhyay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Together For Life Whether We Like It Or Not beobachtet, die im Oktober 2008 für HKD 1.100.000,00 (€ 111.890,87) versteigert wurde.
