Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le bassin aux nymphéas by Claude Monet was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000,000.00 – 35,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 27,045,000.00 (€ 24,288,280.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Claude Monet have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Meules in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 110,747,000.00 (€ 99,333,572.52).
