Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction WILDLIFE ART, which included the work Jaguar observing a Caiman by Cuthbert Edmund Swan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,728.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Cuthbert Edmund Swan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Tiger Hunt in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 18,000.00 (€ 14,258.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion WILDLIFE ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jaguar observing a Caiman von Cuthbert Edmund Swan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.728,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cuthbert Edmund Swan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Tiger Hunt im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.000,00 (€ 14.258,56).
