This price was achieved in the auction Modern British and Irish Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Derek Hill; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Professor R.B. Mc Dowell leaving the Rubrics, Trinity College, Dublin sold at auction in May 2001 with the realized price of GBP 23,500.00 (€ 39,398.29).
