A top price for Domenico Zampieri - as previously expected
The work Saint John the Evangelist by Domenico Zampieri was sold in the Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2009. The price achieved of GBP 9,225,250.00 (€ 10,406,406.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000,000.00 – 10,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Saint John the Evangelist is the most expensive artwork by Domenico Zampieri that we have observed at auctions so far.
