This price was achieved in the auction La Ménagerie at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 8,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Édouard Marcel Sandoz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Poissons, 1935-38 sold at auction in September 2018 with the realized price of CHF 75,000.00 (€ 66,133.20).
