A top price for Edward Mapplethorpe - as previously expected
The work 'Untitled (Melody)', 1988 by Edward Mapplethorpe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2016. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,835.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, 'Untitled (Melody)', 1988 is the most expensive artwork by Edward Mapplethorpe that we have observed at auctions so far.
