Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self-Portrait by Edward Steichen was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 106,250.00 (€ 97,521.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Steichen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Flatiron in November last year with an auction result of USD 11,840,000.00 (€ 11,469,534.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Self-Portrait von Edward Steichen wurde im April 2017 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 106.250,00 (€ 97.521,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Steichen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Flatiron im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.840.000,00 (€ 11.469.534,05).
