Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The surrender of the City of York to the Roundheads by Ernest Crofts was sold in the VICTORIAN PICTURES auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,510.00 (€ 33,683.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest Crofts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Whitehall: January 30th, 1649, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 47,800.00 (€ 69,786.49).

Die Arbeit The surrender of the City of York to the Roundheads von Ernest Crofts wurde im November 2002 in der Auktion VICTORIAN PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.510,00 (€ 33.683,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ernest Crofts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Whitehall: January 30th, 1649 beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 47.800,00 (€ 69.786,49) versteigert wurde.
