Auction result well in line with expectations
In February this year Bonhams held the auction Post War & Contemporary Art, which included the work The Sideline, 1963 by Ernie Barnes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 30,600.00 (€ 28,862.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernie Barnes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sugar Shack in May last year with an auction result of USD 15,275,000.00 (€ 14,234,460.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Post War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Sideline, 1963 von Ernie Barnes zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 30.600,00 (€ 28.862,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernie Barnes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sugar Shack im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275.000,00 (€ 14.234.460,91).
