Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work L'Indolence by Eva Gonzalès was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 384,000.00 (€ 285,438.19). Admittedly, works by Eva Gonzalès have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Au bord de la mer (Honfleur) in November last year with an auction result of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,615,518.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit L'Indolence von Eva Gonzalès im Mai 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 384.000,00 (€ 285.438,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eva Gonzalès auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Au bord de la mer (Honfleur) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.700.000,00 (€ 2.615.518,74).
