The work Au bord de la mer (Honfleur) by Eva Gonzalès was sold in the 20th Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in November last year. The price achieved of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,615,518.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Au bord de la mer (Honfleur) is the most expensive artwork by Eva Gonzalès that we have observed at auctions so far.
