In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work A young beauty learning the harpsichord by Fortunino Matania. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,708.61), 42% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Fortunino Matania have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Complete Set of Illustrations For The Tinker'S Wig in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,760.00 (€ 17,429.06).

Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young beauty learning the harpsichord von Fortunino Matania zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.708,61) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fortunino Matania auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Complete Set of Illustrations For The Tinker'S Wig im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.760,00 (€ 17.429,06).
