Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Nativity by Francesco Granacci was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 82,004.33). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Granacci - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Madonna delle Cintola with Saints Benedict, Thomas, Francis and Julian, which sold at auction in January 2010 for USD 362,500.00 (€ 261,355.44).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Nativity von Francesco Granacci im Dezember 2021 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 68.750,00 (€ 82.004,33) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Francesco Granacci mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Madonna delle Cintola with Saints Benedict, Thomas, Francis and Julian beobachtet, die im Januar 2010 für USD 362.500,00 (€ 261.355,44) versteigert wurde.
