The »bidding war« ended at USD 340,575.00 (€ 348,129.41), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François-Xavier Lalanne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'RHINOCRÉTAIRE I', PIÈCE UNIQUE, 1964 in October this year with an auction result of EUR 18,335,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Mouton de Pierre, 1988 von François-Xavier Lalanne wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 340.575,00 (€ 348.129,41) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von François-Xavier Lalanne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'RHINOCRÉTAIRE I', PIÈCE UNIQUE, 1964 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 18.335.000,00.
