This artwork by Franz Emil Krause achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in March 2001. In the GERMAN PICTURES, FURNITURE AND WORKS OF ART auction, the work Vierwaldstätter-See sold for NLG 5,640.00 (€ 2,612.20) - well above the upper estimate of NLG 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Franz Emil Krause; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot St. Michael's Mount, Cornwall sold at auction in September 2011 with the realized price of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,613.87).
