The work La Liberté Éclairant Le Monde by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2015. The price achieved of USD 970,000.00 (€ 869,019.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, La Liberté Éclairant Le Monde is the most expensive artwork by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi that we have observed at auctions so far.
