A top price for Georg Friedrich Kersting - as previously expected
In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, Part I, which included the work Reading by Lamplight by Georg Friedrich Kersting. The price achieved of GBP 315,000.00 (€ 376,165.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Reading by Lamplight is the most expensive artwork by Georg Friedrich Kersting that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European & British Art, Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reading by Lamplight von Georg Friedrich Kersting zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 315.000,00 (€ 376.165,95) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Reading by Lamplight das teuerste Kunstwerk von Georg Friedrich Kersting, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
