Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by George Chinnery achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June this year. In the Travel & Exploration Sale auction, the work Study of a Chinese market stall; Study of a Chinese barber and his customer, a set of two sold for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 4,469.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Chinnery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Reeves Macao Album, 1836-1837 in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 332,800.00 (€ 487,180.19).
In der Auktion Travel & Exploration Sale wurde die Arbeit Study of a Chinese market stall; Study of a Chinese barber and his customer, a set of two für GBP 3.840,00 (€ 4.469,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00.
